About Jeremiah
“We need to dispel the myth that empathy is ‘walking in someone else’s shoes.’ Rather than walking in your shoes, I need to learn how to listen to the story you tell about what it’s like in your shoes and believe you even when it doesn’t match my experiences.” -Brené Brown, Atlas of the Heart
Jeremiah graduated with both his Bachelor’s and Master’s of Social Work degrees from Utah Valley University. Much of his career has been spent helping his clients learn to identify and connect with their emotions. He is passionate about self-compassion and helping others find balance between logic and emotions. He finds inspiration in all aspects of life, ranging from your favorite comic or fantasy series to the physical sciences, to better understand our mental and emotional states.
Jeremiah believes strongly in a collaborative approach to therapy. He recognizes that finding the path to healing and recovery is a team effort; although he is the trained professional, he regards his clients as the experts in themselves. He is passionate about facilitating the healing of trauma and has worked closely with veterans, first responders, and victims of all kinds of abuse. He is trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy and has seen powerful change through its use in helping trauma survivors overcome their triggers and lead happier, more fulfilling lives.
Jeremiah works primarily with adults and teenagers, ages 14 and up, from all walks of life and for a variety of struggles including anxiety, depression, addiction, decision making skills, life changes, and general self-improvement.
He is an avid Real Salt Lake and Utah Royals fan and can be found at home games being noticeably loud and off-key in his singing and chanting for his favorite teams and players. He also loves gardening and cooking to experiment with flavors. He and his wife have won multiple family competitions for their culinary creations (and monstrosities).
